Terms of Service

Last updated September 1, 2026

Overview

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Clarity iOS app, the Clarity web app, and the clarityportfolio.co marketing site and waitlist (together, "Clarity" or "the app"). By creating an account or otherwise using Clarity, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use Clarity.

Clarity is currently an independently operated product, built and run by its founder. It is not yet organized as a registered company: these Terms are issued by the individual who operates Clarity, referred to here as "we," "us," or "Clarity."

Acceptance & eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Clarity, consistent with the age limit in our Privacy Policy. By using Clarity, you represent that you meet this age requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement with us. If you're using Clarity on behalf of yourself, these Terms apply to you personally. Clarity is not currently designed for institutional or organizational accounts.

Description of service

Clarity is a portfolio and watchlist tracking tool. You manually add the stocks you hold or want to follow, and Clarity shows you pricing, fundamentals, news, and AI-generated narrative summaries for those tickers. Specifically:

  • Live and historical price quotes and fundamentals are sourced from Twelve Data.
  • News headlines and articles are sourced from Marketaux.
  • AI-written narrative text (the signal, what moved, what it means, what to watch) is generated using Google's Gemini API from public market data and public news.
  • With your permission, push notifications (a morning brief, unusual-move alerts, a weekly digest) are composed by our servers from your holdings and watchlist and delivered via Apple's notification service. Each type can be switched off in Settings.
  • You can optionally import positions from a screenshot of another broker app; the image is read by Google's Gemini API to extract positions, is not stored, and nothing is added without your confirmation.
  • Accounts are authenticated via Supabase: email and password, a one-time magic link, or Sign in with Apple in the iOS app. On first open, the iOS app creates a temporary anonymous account so you can try Clarity before signing up; it upgrades to a full account when you sign up and can be deleted at any time in Settings.

Clarity does not connect to any bank or brokerage account, does not execute trades, and does not hold or move your money or securities. You self-report your holdings by typing them in or by confirming rows extracted from a screenshot you chose to import.

Not financial advice

Nothing in Clarity is investment, financial, tax, or legal advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security.

The AI-generated narratives and "signals" shown in the app are for informational purposes only, and where available the app may also display third-party analyst-consensus information aggregated by our data providers. None of it is a recommendation from Clarity, and none of it is personalized to your financial situation, goals, or risk tolerance. Clarity is not a broker-dealer, investment adviser, or financial planner, and using Clarity does not create any advisory or fiduciary relationship.

Market data, news, and AI-generated content may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate. AI-generated narratives can be wrong or misleading in ways that are not always obvious. You are solely responsible for your own investment decisions, and you should independently verify any information in Clarity and consult a qualified, licensed professional before making investment decisions.

Accounts & your responsibilities

  • You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep your login credentials confidential.
  • You're responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, whether or not you authorized it, unless it results from our failure to secure your data.
  • Each account is for a single individual. Accounts may not be shared, sold, or transferred.
  • Notify us promptly at the contact address below if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

Acceptable use

When using Clarity, you agree not to:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where applicable law permits it.
  • Scrape, systematically extract, or resell data, narratives, or content from Clarity, or use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the service outside of normal use.
  • Circumvent rate limits, authentication, or other security or access-control measures.
  • Use Clarity for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that infringes the rights of, or harms, Clarity or any third party.
  • Abuse the AI-narrative or other features in a way that imposes an unreasonable load on our infrastructure or upstream data providers.
  • Misrepresent your identity or impersonate any person or entity.

We may suspend or terminate access for anyone who violates this section (see "Termination" below).

Your content

The holdings, watchlist entries, and any other information you enter into Clarity ("your content") remain yours. By entering it, you grant Clarity a limited license to store, process, and display your content solely to provide and improve the service to you. We don't sell your content, and we don't use it to train third-party AI models. See our Privacy Policy for details on how your data is handled.

You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter. Clarity has no way to verify holdings you self-report.

Third-party data & services

Clarity relies on third-party providers (Twelve Data for pricing and fundamentals, Marketaux for news, and Google's Gemini API for AI-generated narratives) for the underlying data and content shown in the app. This data and content is provided "as is," and Clarity does not guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. We are not responsible for outages, errors, or changes in these third-party services that affect Clarity's availability or the data it displays.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time directly in the app: go to Settings → Delete account. This immediately and permanently deletes your account, holdings, and watchlist; there is no waiting period and no need to contact us first.

We may suspend or terminate your access to Clarity, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you've violated these Terms, misused the service, or created risk or legal exposure for Clarity or other users. We may also discontinue Clarity, or any part of it, at any time. We'll try to give reasonable notice where practical, but during this early beta period that isn't always guaranteed.

Beta & TestFlight notice

Clarity is currently in a limited beta: app access is granted in waves via Apple TestFlight invitations sent from the public waitlist. During this period the app is under active development: features, data providers, pricing, and the specifics described in these Terms may change as the product evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above whenever these Terms change, and material changes will be called out in the app or by email.

Disclaimers

Clarity is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that Clarity will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that any data, narrative, or content in the app is accurate, complete, or current. No system is 100% secure, and no advice or information obtained from Clarity creates any warranty not expressly stated in these Terms.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Clarity and its founder will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or investment losses, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, Clarity, including losses arising from reliance on AI-generated narratives, market data, or analyst-consensus information shown in the app, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as Clarity's features, providers, or legal obligations change. We'll post the revised Terms at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date. If a change is significant, we'll take reasonable steps to let you know, such as an in-app notice or an email. Continuing to use Clarity after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
